Kyoto Palace Asian buffet

This restaurant was large and tastefully decorated. We came in for lunch and was pleased with the food and cleanliness. There was a nice variety of Chinese and Japonese foods including Sushi and Sashimi. The only issue was the food wasn't hot! I told the owner on the way out and he went to check the temperatures.

My first time going to a buffet in years, and it was decent. I was surprised by the sushi being apart of the buffet so I did enjoy that. The atmosphere was good and the attendants were attentive. The buffet was clean and didn't look sloppy. The food wasn't scorching hot, but was warm enough. I was expecting more of a selection from the remainder of the buffet, but it had the basics that you're used to. Price wasn't too bad I guess, but I think the last time I went to a buffet years ago it was like $11 lol but it is 2025 now.

Apparently going at 8pm is not the move. The food was uneven temperature. The food had no real flavor. The hibachi steak was so tough that I couldn't chew and swallow it. The hibachi soup (which is my favorite from kyoto specifically) was bland and had none of the usual mushroom and green onion bits. The ice creams that my daughters were going to eat looked like they had one that melted all over the others and the froze on the outside of the ice cream cups. The silverware was dirty, we had to dig for clean. It makes me very sad to have to share all this because Kyoto WAS one of my fave spots. I don't know that I plan to come back. The food was definitely not worth the price flavor and temp wise. Disappointed.

Exceptional value. Buffet has a ton of choices including dozens of sushi. My favorite item is mushroom in oyster sauce.

We went today for the ayce crablegs.. everything was hot & fresh! We went at a great time because we were able to get several plates of the crab legs. Our waitress was very tentative.. We will definitely go back again on crab leg days.
