My family and I are considering moving to the neighborhood, so I took a walk to assess its walkability. I'm glad to see that it seems friendly, but my main concern is safety. I have a son whom I cherish, and I want to ensure that his route to and from school is both safe and reliable. I realized I miscalculated the distance to public transportation; it's a 22-minute walk, which is quite a trek, but I think we can manage it. I really enjoy the area around Western, so I stopped by a few local stores to explore. La Monarca Bakery & Cafe is one of the places I visited and had some amazing treats. I tried a delicious sausage and egg croissant, which they refer to differently in Spanish. It had a nice little kick, even without hot sauce! The people are so sweet! And helpful. The bakery food is very light and has interesting flavor choices. It is also very different than what I’m used to with hispanic bakeries being heavier foods. Good prices for the food.
