La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant

Small local Mexican restaurant, and omg it was amazing! Glorious plant energy, amazing tacos and gorditas, veggie options too. I hear they have fantastic breakfast too! Go check them out.

The owners and servers are very pleasant people. Simple home-cooked meals with a sweet touch of hospitality. Food was good. They loved sharing typical Brazilian "yummies" with our table. It was an awesome experience! We will go back to eat "Picanha", try the Brazilian cochinha and buy calabreza and other many items. Nos veremos em breve!

La Tiendita left a bad taste in my mouth. So I found this place while visiting Tallahassee on business. I stopped in for dinner on a Monday after a flight in, sat outside, and was *blown away* by the food. Nothing was bad. The salsa slapped, the lengua gordita was a pocket of goodness, the tings tostada had avocado and crema with cilantro, and the Chile relleno platter cooked to perfection. Not greasy, not overly fried, cheese was gooey in the center. Sauce was great. The rice? So flavorful and delicious. Things were so good I decided to return again during my brief 4 day stay in the area. Man do I regret that decision. I returned on Wednesday for dinner after working, sat inside and got started. Small place very quaint. Server was great and attentive. The food was hit or miss. Salsa was good with a nice spicy kick. Rice was seasoned well, delicious. My plantains were burnt so sent them back. Chicken and shrimp Fajitas not bad but little dry. You had to ask for lettuce and sour cream but had to pay for spoonful of Guacamole so I declined. My Son did not like his birria beef tacos, he said lacked flavor sent it back.

Let’s get one thing straight: the food is unbeatable. This is the best salsa in Tallahassee. In fact, this entire restaurant is a Tallahassee G.E.M. (Great Establishment! Mouth(will be happy)). Walk into this restaurant and let the saffron yellow walls ease your pain or sit outside on a cool day (AMPLE outdoor seating). Enjoy sipping delicious drinks (new bar as of 2025!), a sope (flavor!), and receiving some of the most attentive service. Do yourself a favor and stop in.
