Lake Thoreau Pool (Reston Association)

Nice pool, clean facilities, diving well is 10 feet deep. The pool minimum depth is 3 feet and quickly goes to 3.5 so it's not ideal for little kids who don't yet swim. Not much afternoon/evening shade.

The night laps for adults are great. There are lights inside the pool. Also, the showers heat up quickly. We really enjoyed our visit.

Closed due to vanadlism: see article below. (I noticed no work was being done when I was there on 5/29). RA states that some it may be open by the end of the day (5/30) RESTON, VA -- If you were disappointed by the closure of some Reston pools during the Memorial Day weekend, a staffing shortage and vandalism may be to blame. The Reston Association released a statement saying that they were "working to address issues" that resulted in pool closures, most of which were related to a shortage of lifeguards to staff all 15 outdoor pools under the RA's purview. Some lifeguards called in sick, and there were additional problems "related to equipment failures and vandalism," RA stated. Very good I understand that Ra wants to close it permantly but that would upset alot of people that use it

Nice pool and facilities. Parking lot can get crowded. Also surrounded by trees which provide shade in summer.
