Lazy Jerk Caribbean Eats

Honestly was excited for some Jamaican food as I haven’t had it forever reviews made me feel like this was the spot and my husband couldn’t wait to have some oxtails. When he got home with the and I took my first bite I was was not impressed. Rice and peas I couldn’t tell if it was over cooked or under cooked as it was crunchy and mushy at the same time. My jerk chicken was cut up into bite sized pieces which left me confused and my husbands oxtail wasn’t cooked to fall off the bone not that there was much meet to even have off the bone has there was just 5 oxtail with two having meat. The beef patties were the best thing as she cooked them fresh. I really had high hopes. #unsatisfied

Highly disappointed! I wanna start off saying this is my opinion from my experience. I ordered the Oxtail platter, consisting of peas and rice and cabbage, and my husband ordered the jerk, chicken platter, consisting of rice and peas and cabbage. First of all, I’ve never had sweet oxtails( Oxtails cooking a sweet Brown sauce) Very disgusting. Secondly, the peas and rice was gummy, and you couldn’t taste Any of the wonderful seasonings that come in peas and rice. Like Coconut milk, thyme, scotch bonnet, any of those. The jerk chicken did not have any flavor at all. It was wet and you can tell that it wasn’t grilled. I don’t know who was doing the cooking, but you can tell it was not someone from Jamaica. The cabbage was so spicy that you couldn’t even taste it.

We are from out of town and were looking for an authentic Jamaican place in the area. The lazy jerk did not disappoint! We ordered the oxtails and goat curry with rice and peas and plantains. The food was hot, fresh, delicious and authentic! The goat curry was on the spicy side but that’s ok because I love spicy! Plantains were spot on and rice also perfect. Small business owner who clearly takes pride in her cooking and great service. Would come back again any time we are in Clearwater! I stumbled upon this gem while leaving Clearwater Beach — and I’m so glad I did! I’m originally from Boston and Jamaican, and let me tell you, the food was authentic and absolutely delicious. I had the jerk chicken bowl, and my friend got the oxtail box — both were phenomenal, hot, and full of flavor. The owner had such a familiar vibe, and after just visiting Jamaica recently, being here truly felt like I was right back on the island. Wishing you all the success — I’ll definitely be back!

Very clean and friendly environment. I was greeted with a smile which you don’t get at many places. Had to wait a little bit but the food was worth it and sometimes that is expected when the quality is good. I had the Oxtail , rice and peas the cabbage and it was mouth watering. Not your typical crowd that you would expect at a food hall but, there are other vendors to choose from. I will go back again with my family.
