Spent New Year’s Eve dinner here. The food was spectacular and the service was even better. The Pithivier was easily the best I’ve ever had. Also the cod cheek nugget with petrossian caviar was over the top in the best way. Allison the bartender was awesome. Got the champagne and the milk punch. Le Chene definitely makes you feel like you’re transported to France from the west village. Would highly recommend
Just get the pithiviers with pork and eel when you come. This dish is truly delicious and decadent. The beet root ketchup might sound a bit strange but goes so well with it and totally brightens up the dish. We got the rack of veal for a whopping $155, but it’s such a skip. Not very tender, not very flavorful just sheer disappointment. Also do not get the bread pudding ish dessert with fruit. It was disgusting… out of all the great French desserts I dont know why anyone would serve this. The giant apple chunks were soggy and mealy. The rest of the dessert was also a soggy flour mess… zero texture. Maybe we didn’t choose well but there is one dish worth going for here.
Le Chêne is hands-down my favorite restaurant in all of New York — every visit just reinforces why. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed not as a customer, but as a guest whose delight is the top priority. The entire staff is incredibly talented, warm, and passionate. At the bar, Allison crafts some of the best cocktails and absinthe in the city. Ronan, the co-owner, has curated the space so thoughtfully — from the lighting to the blowfish wine decanters — and his hospitality makes every guest feel special. Co-owner Chef Alexia Duchêne, brings creativity and precision to every dish; their pithivier of pork and smoked eel is unforgettable. Simon and the wine team are equally amazing, guiding guests through an impressive yet approachable list. Every time I leave, I’m already planni
The food was delicate and well balanced. French cuisine can feel a bit heavy for me at times, but the flavors here were just right. Truffles were in season, so we added them to the beef tartare, which was quite special. And of course, we got to try their signature pork pastry dish, DIVINE! It’s expensive, but both the food and the service are more than worth it for a special occasion.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy, and I feel like I’m in Paris, with such a warm and welcoming staff. The cocktails are amazing, especially the cornichon martini — one of my favorites! Thanks again ✨
