This famous bakery serves the most delicious malasadas! This little spot has been around since 1952 and has never changed its method of making their incredible Portuguese style donuts. Even if the line seems long, it moves quickly and is worth trying if it’s you’re first time in Honolulu. We tried the custard, chocolate, coconut, and guava fillings. My favorites were the custard and guava, but all the donuts were fried to perfection and filled with creamy goodness. Definitely do not miss Leonard’s during your stay in Oahu!
Absolutely fantastic malasadas that.... dare I say... are among the best filled donuts I've had? They're fried fresh when you prefer which makes sense considering the line of people always waiting. The dough is not the type of super light, wonderbread level airy, but it has an awesome level of chew that contrasts with the crispy exterior. Neither the filling nor the dough itself is overly sweet and that's just plain awesome. One thing is that I would recommend most of the other fillings other than chocolate. The chocolate one is similar to a Jell-O chocolate pudding and isn't for everyone. Macadamia nut filling takes the win for me.
Leonard’s Bakery is an absolute must-visit in Hawaii! The malasadas are fresh, warm, and perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The service was quick and friendly despite the crowd, and the prices are very reasonable for such iconic treats. The classic vibe of the place makes the experience even better. I tried a few different fillings and each one was delicious. Definitely worth the wait and a spot I would happily return to again!
This place has great sweet treats, malasadas with plain and different fillings like custard, guava and coconut. You go inside order and they give you a ticket and you wait outside by the pickup window. It's outside Waikiki which is cool as you get a glimpse of a real local neighborhood
Okay, I'm still not sure what malasadas are... I read their description before visiting, but they sound like donut holes me. With that's said, everyone talks about this place upon arrival to the island, and as a "mainlander," I would be doing myself a great disservice if I didn't stop by. I'll start with the atmosphere, which isn't car friendly. If you can avoid driving a car to get here, you're probably going to be better off than most of the people you see. The parking lot can be politely described as "minimalist" at best, and probably semi-nonexistant at worst. There are only about six spaces available, and when combined with the lots one way sign, you're bound to see a line of confused driver circling the block. Beyond the parking situation, the atmosphere leaves a bit more to be des
