Leo's Homemade Ice Cream

We’ve been coming to Leo’s for years and it never disappoints. As soon as you walk in, the smell of fresh waffle cones fills the air. They offer plenty of ice cream options and usually have new flavors to try. There’s lots of parking and seating, including covered outdoor tables for rainy days. Just a heads up, it’s cash only, but they do have an ATM on-site. Definitely one of our favorite local spots.

This ice cream was so good. Reminds me of my attempts at homemade ice cream, in a good way. I would make it with Greek yogurt. I don't know if that's what they do here. But it gives it a certain richness and consistency I like. I also respect that the place is cash only.

I hear peole rave about this place, but I wouldn't rate it as exceptional by any means. Is it good? Yes, but not much better than the premium "boxed" ice cream you get in the store, like Hershey's. If you want exceptionally, outrageously good ice cream, go to Fox Country Meadows on rt.322 in Ephrata, Lancaster county! It's the best I've ever had, anywhere. They make it right there, with the milk of the cows next door. Smooth and creamy. Besides, you get more for your money there than at Leo's.

I have been Masseys customer since the 70’s. About 6 months ago I tried Leo’s, and although more expensive….. it’s worth it!! Last week my friend ordered a shake. Pretty sure it was the owner that made the shake. He took 5 steps to the counter and my friend decided to order another one. The man looked at him and said, next time order when I’m at the machine so I don’t need to walk back and forth!!!!!! WILL NEVER go there again!!!

good ice cream, but not for the prices. leo's has gotten much more expensive in the past few years, while the serving sizes remain the same. a 12oz milkshake shouldn't cost $7.50. they also seem to have gotten rid of the customer bathroom inside. staff has always been helpful and polite.
