A went to this restaurant with a very open mind. And I was very excited to try this African restaurant in Newport News. But unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The rice was burnt if you ever smelled or had burnt popcorn. That's what the rice smelled like and it was a horrible taste. The chicken was overly cooked and chewy. I ended up giving it to my dogs. I can say that the sauce the chicken was in was excellent. The meat pie was very doughy and hardly meat-filling. Other than that 1 star for this place and I wouldn't return.

The first time I sent someone to pick up my order. Snapper and Jollof, pepper soup and fufu. It was to die for. Absolutely amazing. So this time, I decided to treat a friend who never experienced African food. We drove all the way from Williamsburg. Sat in. The man at the front waited until we entered, then disappeared in the back without a word. He returned and barely spoke while taking our order. There were 2 kids running around the small dining area. Nobody checked on us or made small talk. Food was completely awful. The jollof was old, dry, and hard. Plantains were so tough they were inedible. The best thing was the sauced snapper and fufu. Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it. We quickly closed the containers, put a trash bag in the restaurant's trashcan. Cleaned up and left to

This was probably the spiciest dish I’ve tried. Kontomire Spinach stew for the record I’ve had this dish serval times at other African restaurants. It has never been this spicy but I guess to each its own. The service was pleasant would revisit but may try another menu item

They do not issue refunds or exchanges. The food was horrible and I will never be returning. They have a huge kitchen but take forever to prepare orders and they are very rude in their attitude and energy, I felt completely unwelcome and disrespected. To make matters worse, the price of $17 for jollof with chicken is not worth it. I regret tipping them $2.50 The man who took my order when I walked in behaved as if I was insane for asking where in Africa they are from and then he pretended I was hitting on him or flirting with him when I definitely never was. He asked my spice level— on a scale of 1 to 5 and I said 3.5. There was another man sitting at one of the tables eating something with chicken and rice and it looked and smelled wonderful, I complimented it and I asked what he was ha

Update: I came back to try the pepper soup, meat pie and jollof rice. The soup was very peppery but not overwhelming and I love that , the chicken was very tender and good portion. The fufu was soft and big portion. The meat pie was big but mostly bread, it was baked which I liked. The jollof rice was fluffy and soft but you could tell the pot the rice was cooked in hot scorched. This is my first time here at this restaurant I placed an order online for palmnut soup with chicken, and jollof rice with fish and a beef pie (empanada). A few problems ; they said my order will be ready by 12:30 but I actually didn’t get it until 1:15 And they didn’t have any meat pies so I had to substitute for plantains. I’m not sure but I’ve been to other African restaurants in the 757 and even though you o
