Customer Reviews
I recently visited Louisiana Charlie’s in Long Beach and ordered the shrimp po’ boy with Cajun fries, along with chicken wings served with fries and yams. The shrimp po’ boy was the clear standout. The shrimp were perfectly fried, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. It came fully dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a flavorful house-made remoulade, all on a toasted French roll that held everything together nicely. Easily the highlight of the meal. I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the Cajun fries. The seasoning was solid and flavorful, but they didn’t have the crispiness I prefer—especially compared to their regular fries. That said, portions were generous across the board, and nothing felt skimpy. The atmosphere and service were both great. You order and pay first
I visited Louisiana Charlie's last Sunday. I used to dine here often when I lived in Long Beach years ago. When we arrived we had to pay first. I didn't like this because I felt rushed. The bill came out to about $90 for two people, which isn't bad. We ordered the following: sauteed fish, fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, yams, and sweet potatoe pie (store bought). We were seated near the rear of the restaurant. I felt like we were forgotten at times. The food was good, but I feel that the pay before you eat thing kind of ruins the dining experience. I would come back, but I'll probably order the food to go.
Overall an ok experience. Paying before you eat always makes you wonder why is this needed and in my opinion It can make you feel as if its more of a food truck experience instead of dining at a restaurant. The bbq smoke smelled great and we made our choices, paid, and waited on a patio with a nice view of the lighthouse and people walking by. A runner brought our drinks, and soon after our meals arrived by server. He was friendly and the food looked good. The Yams were my favorite and the mac n cheese very tasty. My huband had a catfish special and raved about the red beans , collard greens and my yams. He is from New Orleans so he would know how this should taste. Unfortunately my ribs were pretty tough not alot of meat very dried up just covered in sauce possibly to hide the fact they
There needs to be a sign placed at the front of the restaurant that says, only one party can enter at a time when you order. We went here yesterday to eat for dinner. It was windy and chilly outside. So when we had the opportunity to step inside we did. We were rudely told by the person taking the orders that only one party can be inside at a time. Then the fact that they are asking if you want to tip at the beginning when you are ordering, it’s laughable. We get seated and get our food in a descent amount of time. The food was a 10 out of 10. I had catfish, yams, and Cajun fries, everything was delicious! There seem not to be a dedicated server for the table. Someone that appeared to be the manager checked on us more than the other employees. A tall white male, with tattoos, an
I used to frequent Louisiana Charlie’s when I lived in the area, so I was excited to come back. The food was simply amazing as always and still lives up to what I remembered. Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark this time. I understand that many restaurants have shifted to a pay before you eat model, but the issues went beyond that. The hostess was not very friendly, and we often had to track down our waiter for basic items (like forks, napkins, etc) and our dessert .It felt like the restaurant was understaffed, which affected the overall experience. The bartender deserves recognition because they were the only one who truly made an effort to accommodate our needs and keep things moving. I truly hope management addresses the staffing and service issues because the food is sti
