What a great find! This spot is a bit tricky to locate—you might walk right past it thinking it's a hotel or apartment—but once you step inside, it's a truly nice place with excellent food. The menu is full of winners. The pasta is all made fresh in-house, and we absolutely loved the sausage and rigatoni; it had great flavor! The beef carpaccio was very delicious, and we almost ordered a second plate! To top it off, the cocktail with the cucumber was made perfectly and was wonderfully refreshing. We did order the burger but the food took so long we got full on the prior small bites so we were able to cancel it as it did not make it to get cooked. Also the celery salad is a must try. It was delicious. Did not know what to expect but definitely was good. We ordered the oysters, and while

We absolutely LOVE this place. We have always eaten at the bar in the tavern area and have no interest in sitting elsewhere. We discovered Lowland a while ago and it is now our most favorite food spot in Charleston. The drinks are outstanding, the service is excellent and the food is divine. The food is fresh, the flavors are unique and the recipes highlight authentic lowland food. This latest visit we tried the celery salad, the burger a the biscuit with a red pepper jelly and potted cheese. The celery salad was simple yet AMAZING. Simple blanched celery with chopped mint and some incredible white cheddar cheese from Wisconsin. I eat burgers almost everywhere I go but this one is truly THE BEST. The meat was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and the perfect size!!! Wish I remembe

My husband and I went to Lowland to celebrate my birthday and it was such a lovely atmosphere for a special dinner. The space felt fun but sophisticated with low lighting and fresh flowers. Dishes like the celery salad were unlike anything I've tried before. Other favorites included the pickled vegetables, the Lowland biscuit with farmer cheese and pepper jelly, the Short Rib with chimichurri, and the roasted carrots. We will definitely be back to see what's on the menu next season.

I have been dining out in Charleston for over 30 years. So I've experienced many fine restaurants. Lowland is a must dining experience!! A hidden gem set in a charming old timey 2 story Charleston home. We dined in the tavern which has exposed brick, low lighting and a comfortable ambiance. There was a good crowd and they were very busy, but it was never noisy and it was easy to converse at our table. They have an extensive curated wine collection and custom cocktails, but we had Pellegrino and the creative "Psychedelic Sally" mocktail. Fantastic flavors! The food was outstanding top to bottom. The celery salad is a standout. The crunch of the celery and walnuts contrasts perfecly with the figs and crumbled cheese. The beef tartare was amazing as well, with chips to scoop with. My daugh

Service was attentive, drinks were strong and delicious, and the food was great! You MUST order the biscuits to start. Atmosphere is 4 stars only because the whole restaurant unfortunately stunk like body odor (hit with it as soon as we stepped through the doors) during our particular visit; and I’m assuming that’s not something that regularly happens.
