Second time coming here. It was not as busy as last time, but the experience was similar. The staff are friendly and polite. The food quality for beef, lamb and clams were all pretty good. We got the spicy beef tallow and mushroom broth. Very flavorful. The fried dough was not fresh but still ok. The sauces lacked variety but what they had still did the job. They let you hang your coat in the front so you won’t smell like hotpot after, but your clothes definitely will afterwards! Overall, it was a good experience although I wish it would be more reasonably priced for two people.
Spicy and delicious! We tried their spicy beef tallow broth and chicken broth. The broth was rich and flavorful. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. Service was fast once seated, and the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming. Great spot to bring friends who enjoy real spicy hotpot!
100% authentic SichuanMala soup recipe. Perfect for a freezing evening in New York. The rich peppercorn spices and fresh ingredients warms the stomach. And great service too. Thank you. Love this place.
Mala Hotpot serves authentic Sichuan-style beef tallow broth that’s rich and flavorful — truly the best I’ve had in NYC. The highlight is their $29 Nine-grid Blind Box with 6 kinds of meat and 3 surprises, super fun and delicious! And they’re also the only place in New York that serves fresh duck blood, which is a must-try for real hotpot lovers.
Amazing place. I took my non-Asian friends here for their first hot pot and they loved it. I accidentally left my phone at the restaurant and had to fly out early the next morning. I didn’t manage to send a shipping label until three months later (my bad), and they still kept my phone safe the entire time. Every staff member I spoke with was kind and helpful. Once I sent the label, Kevin printed it right away and shipped the phone the same day. Great food, great service, and incredibly honest, trustworthy people! Highly recommend.
