Marabu Kreyol Restaurant

I recently tried Marabu Kreyol Restaurant and it was a nice introduction to Caribbean flavors. The food was rich, flavorful, and clearly inspired by traditional Haitian and Creole cooking. I especially liked how hearty and well-seasoned the dishes were — they felt very authentic and comforting. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s a great little spot if you’re in the mood for something different and want to explore Caribbean cuisine.

My first time getting Haitian food from this establishment and I must say five stars all around! ✨ The restaurant was very clean and the service was extremely friendly! The food was fresh and tasted like homemade Haitian food, (I got a medium in both plates, the portion and price was reasonable) I'll definitely be back. 😋

I generally like Haitian food and enjoy it. This place is not ready for be a full restaurant. I ordered over the phone and they told me 15 minutes for pickup. I was there in 20 minutes to give them some extra time. Once there, I had to wait an extra 20 minutes in poor air conditioning for the food. It was haphazardly thrown together and they had three people there, all seemingly distracted from making the food. The food was pretty okay but in their haste to pack the food they put the bean sauce (which is 95% sauce and no beans) sideways and it spilled all over the rest of the package.

I ordered the griot fritay, and as a Haitian in Jersey City, there are few Haitian spots, so I decided to try Marabu. The griot is dry and cut into tiny pieces- fried scraps, and the marinade and Accra are flavorless and too crispy. Even the pikliz and black rice were blah. This food does not cater to real Haitians or represent Haitian flavor. I don't recommend.

Ordered a large griot fritay. The patate was undercooked. The griot was underseasoned, and serving size was more of a medium than large.
