Marina Branch - San Mateo Public Library

Literally the worst library and NOT KID FRIENDLY. Went in to check out a book with my three year old and his grandmother and my mom was yelled at by the librarian saying she is not allowed to be in the library because there is only one adult allowed per child even if you aren’t going to story time. As she continued to let in other adults who did not have children with them. They are unwelcoming to children and frankly mean. Don’t waste your time. Every other library on the peninsula is child friendly, with the sweetest librarians. I would avoid this library at all costs if you have children.

This library has 2 tables and 8 chairs for ( reading in quiet) but this library is totally different than any sort of traditional library , it’s noisy.

it is very hard dealing with this branch. they lose items when you return them and also dont know about their own policy. when you check out an item on a kid's account there should not be a fine if late but they dont want to obey that rule. Only one of the employees opposes that policy and does not believe to what the main library told the patrons. it is very frustrating and the best way is to avoid this branch and just go to the other two branches who are very nice with people. they also refuse to help you when you need an application to print then they refuse to print the application and try to get rid of you..I waited for librarian to come at noon for two hours and still she did not help when I called her and referred me to the main library who are nicer people there.

Nice little small town library feel. Small parking lot. But always open spots. Good scenic view of lagoon. Good place to walk to kid to.
