Matcha Cafe Maiko

Came here after the movies for a quick dessert and a friend said the matcha quality is good here. They are located in a plaza with many other restaurants but the parking isn't hard to find. They have many matcha desserts and drinks to choose from but I went with the popular Matcha Latte Float (8.45) and got the full matcha soft serve on top. I also got a large size for an extra $1. It was ready in less than 5 minutes. They are generous with the soft serve but they give a lot of ice in the latte, probably because they need the soft serve to stay afloat. That part kinda sucked because there was less liquid but when the ice melts, you get more drink haha. But the soft serve was really good and full of matcha flavor. I went to Matcha Cafe Maiko during their grand opening week and the difference between the matcha I had then and from today’s visit (~7pm) is astounding. In my first visit, I ordered a classic iced matcha latte with oat milk. It was perfect and tasted exactly like the excellent quality from the Rowland Heights location. However, during today’s visit, and given that it was cold and raining, I wanted a hot matcha latte with oat milk. It took the employees more than 15 minutes to figure out they had no oat milk and was microwaving some other milk for the past few minutes. When they gave me a hot matcha latte with almond milk (milk substitute), the hot was certainly understated. Lukewarm at best. Great selection and drinks here. Got the matcha float with a lot of soft serve and was happy to find a good matcha spot in this plaza. A perfect after meal dessert.

Really good matcha ice cream! My partner and I got the matcha and ube swirl in a cone. Really soft and delicious!
