Probably the nicest pool in the area. I wish it was more up to date though. I knocked off one start specifically because it’s cash only. I want to be able to pay with credit card, especially for a monthly membership.
The McDermott pool is a Warwick gem. Olympic size, with designated swim lanes and workout space. Low cost to join or come as a guest. Warm pool.
Good pool however, the issue is the open pool only goes five feet which kind of sucks.. If you want to get any deeper max being 10 feet you must swim laps so it’s not the most enjoyable pool but for the price it’s worth it. Pool was very spacious and non crowded they had about 4 lifeguards on duty so it’s safe and staff is VERY friendly.
Things seem to change, month to month. The pool was great during April and May when the therapeutic pool was also open. Perhaps it has been closed due to warmer weather, but I saw one lady with a cane turn back on hearing the therapeutic pool was not open. All I could think was: how sad b/c it probably took her a lot of effort to get motivated and dressed to drive to get there. During June there have been swim meets every weekend so far fewer hours for local residents are available. The private showers and ample hot water in the ladies' locker room are nice. Lifeguards and staff are friendly and positive.
Love that we have this pool in Warwick - it’s right down the street so it’s convenient. It’s also super cheap to access which is great. I only have two issues with the pool, I wish that teens, specifically those just looking to exercise, weren’t considered kids. They aren’t there to play, they are there to exercise just like the adults. My son is almost 15 and on a swim team. He swims here to get in more pool time or if practice is cancelled at our home pool. Adult time on the weekends is 7-11, and it sucks my son can’t swim in the morning because he’s a “kid” - again, he’s not there to play. Would love to see that changed. Also, my son learned to swim here when he was 4/5. At some point they decided a 5 year old boy couldn’t go into the women’s locker room. But it’s perfectly acceptable
