Ladies up front where super friendly, thats where the good service stopped ordered a coffee was told there was none (wow) ordered tea and then the grouper Oscar florentine The salad was absolutely dismal looking had better at waffle house,the bagged veggies they served where half steamed no flavor, the rice was cooked perfect but no butter or anything until I requested some, grouper was dry had to ask for sauce to give it some flavor and moisture, was only checked on once in 30 min no refills on my drink were given when my plate was taken I asked for the ticket she slammed it on the table and walked off 15 min and she still gast come back to get my payment. Recommended by clerk at hotel after we arrived hungry from a two and one half hour drive. It had a super varied menu. A lot of nostalgia. The Mel's catch was so good as a dinner that I requested a second portion of the blackened fish to savor more. My wife truly enjoyed her hamburger and had a nostalgic ice cream float just because.

Looks like your classic, old person diner. Pictures of the rat pack on the wall, carpet, and a bar top that's actually a bar. Makes you wonder if they make good milk shakes. Anywayz, server was accommodating, ordered two items from the menu then changed them after I put in the order, she never flinched, thought that was awesome. Ordered the surf and turf also the Ruben. My only complaint, the food was cold. It took me 15 min to get to my room. The steak was perfectly cooked the lobster was not rubbery but the thing that was mind blowing..... the gravy on the mash! Never have I ever exclaimed about brown gravy. Packed of flavor, rich and not too salty. Again everything was good had to drop the star because of the temp. I'd recommend eating at the spot.

I haven’t been to Mel’s in years and I honestly forgot how good it is. My husband and I ate there last Sunday fo dinner and had a great experience. There were so many options -even for vegetarians:) The service was also excellent . Our waiter, Ryan, was personable and accommodating, not to mention efficient! Needless to say, we will be back!

Good food, good variety, reasonable prices. I am amazed at how this restaurant manages to accommodate most of the time without taking reservations with less than a 15 minute wait and still not rush diners. Cute way of assigning a famous name as you wait to be called. Our maître D, John, was friendly and fun. Our server, Aileen, was attentive & prompt and had a good [appropriate] sense of humor. She also warned us that the roast beef was only available as Medium that evening which was fine with me but a good heads up. The biscuits are good too. PS. People are so eager to dine here, ha ha, that we noticed someone had left his BMW engine running as he dined. Staff reacted to our report accordingly by announcing the tag # and the guy who was dining ran out to turn it off. True story!
