Merritt's Burger House

Merritt’s is a cool and very unique place to stop for a bite to eat. It has all of its mid century charm as they have been in business since 1958. The food isn’t anything groundbreaking or anything, it’s what you would expect for a drive in burger stand. Not that it’s bad by any means, they excel at the niche they are in. Not too many places left around like this and we love to try and go to retro restaurants when we can.

The waitress here is awesome! Food was alright. Chili slaw dog was pretty good. Burgers not good, dry and definitely not homemade, like the steak sandwich. My daughter had a hard piece of something in her burger. Shrimp was eh, rubbery, won't be ordering those again. Fries were alright. Sweet tea was average good sweet tea. It was a long wait for not great food in a dirty parking lot but the waitress was very nice. It was cheap, so I guess you really get what you pay for.

First time here. My boyfriend sings praises about the hotdogs here. Should have went that way. I got the seafood combo and it was disgusting what parts were edible. Everything was dry and rubbery and underseasoned. Fish.....if that's what that was. Hard. Been better off stopping at Food Lion and getting a box of SeaPak shrimp and saved myself the money. Not worth 14.00 at all. The waitress was very nice though and that's why she got 5 stars. The establishment should be thankful I gave them 2 and that's because my boyfriend enjoyed his food so there's that. Lol.

Pulled in, waited 30 min for someone to come take our order. Waited another 45 minutes (at least) for someone to bring the food. They were out of lettuce and my burger barely had any ketchup or mayo. It was basically just beef cheese and bacon. Otherwise, the burger was pretty good. Hotdog was pretty good too. Fries weren't good, it tastes like the oil needed to be changed. Milkshake was almost warm and was completely liquid. Prices were good but honestly with the quality of food it made since it was cheap.

Don't know how they have such good reviews, they deserve negative stars. Went today around 130PM ordered 2 cheeseburgers, fries, hush puppies and chocolate and strawberry shakes. Took more than 30 minutes to get our crappy food and guy next to us that ordered after us got his food before us. Burger were gross, hard like a hockey puck as well the bun, hard like a hockey puck. Hush puppies were gross tasting and weird after taste like they hadn't changed oil in weeks in the fryer. Shakes were thin, like water, it was like drinking strawberry milk & chocolate milk. Threw almost everything out except the fries. No need to return, on the outside wall of this biz it says "good food." Nowhere near good, I think a preschooler can make a better burger!!
