Customer Reviews
Not really authentic Mexican food, but it's good. It's worth a trip. The mild salsa is very mild and really sweet. The hot salsa is super hot. Mixed together was pretty good.
I’ll start with the really sweet waitress. She was amazing to us all at the booth. She didn’t charge me for my plate, and took my negative critique well. The food was awful. My steak chimichanga had a terrible red sauce on top of it. Very little steak. Filled with refried beans. My entire plate looked like a slop smorgasbord, slop for pigs. The taste was nasty. I tried adding salt, but that did not help. The salsa was so bad. I asked for something that tasted more “real”. I swear they use ketchup to make the salsa. If you want Mexican food, don’t go here.
Love me some Mexican Villa. Sancho encillada style is the bomb. Second choice a crisy beef taco. Their cheese is awesome. Staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive.
“The plates are hot” at the iconic Mexican Villa West! This is the only Mexican Villa location I have tried. The last time I looked at the menu here was 1975. I have not needed to look at the menu since. I have and always will order one meal “The Chico Plate.” I eat here for two reasons the Chico Plate and the hot sauce. The hot sauce, I could drink with a straw. It is hot with wonderful flavors. Take a bite of it on a chip; the endorphins kick in and then regardless of the burn there is no stopping. The Chico Plate is about the same. It is a simple meal. A very nicely spiced ground beef enchilada, beans, and rice. The whole plate is covered with some of the best tasting red sauce of any Mexican restaurant I have ever dined. On top of it all is crisp fresh lettuce and chopped tomatoes.
Food was not great, really never is, but the hubbs likes the BES, so we go occasionally. I ordered the Villa Bowl with pintos and got rice and guacamole I specifically asked NOT to have. I had gastric surgery and rice causes issues, I did not notice the rice until I'd eaten my fill because I was preoccupied with the grands. Didn't check the bill, again preoccupied with grands, was charged $2 for the 2 tablespoons of guacamole, making my meal now $14.99. Unfortunately, because of the rice I cannot eat it later. And I ended up sick because the rice swelling in my tummy. Moral of the story, pay attention to what you're getting and paying for.
