Model Citizen is one of those vibey spots that feels elevated without being stuffy, and Mondays are my favorite time to go. They are open Thursday through Monday from 4 pm to 9 pm and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Happy hour runs daily from 4 to 6 pm and all night on Mondays. And yes, you can order happy hour from anywhere you sit in the restaurant, which immediately earns bonus points. Mondays have the best energy. It is relaxed but still lively. I am obsessed with their salads, especially the Caesar, heavy on the parm please. The happy hour menu never misses. Smash burger with fries and garlic aioli is a must. And if you are getting a drink, go for the Negroni. They make a very good one, balanced and done right. Great food, strong drinks, and a really good vibe. Model Citizen is a

This upscale family style American French fusion-lite California chill vibe restaurant is my new favorite place in Ventura. Great food, cocktails, service, and ambiance. The daily catch with Beuerre Blanc sauce is a revelation. If you want huge portions of mediocre food for under $20 to drown out whatever's ailing you, this isn't the place. If you want well composed, thought out food that is brilliantly understated and laser focused on quality ingredients and flavor, this is the place for you.

Food was excellent. Absolutely fantastic - unusual and tasty. If my rating was for food alone, this is definitely a 5/5. Sea Bass, Chicken schnitzel, cucumber salad, roast carrots were great. Unfortunately there were a few minor issues with service and atmosphere: we had a booking however had to wait quite a while for a table. When we were seated, it took a long time for our waitress to take our order. The wine we ordered was unable to be found - by the time we were informed of that, we were finished with our first starter. By the time our backup wine was brought to the table we were finished with the second starter. We asked for dessert menus but after receiving them our waitress failed to return for our orders for 20+ minutes. Unfortunately in the meantime the dessert my husband was look

Fine dining with an accessible vibe at this lusciously modern bistro with bar. Small and large plates with an epic array of decadent appetizers. Fried chips with a novel take on onion dip? Check. Fresh oysters served cold with lemon and sauces? Check. Dill cucumber on a savory bed of whipped feta? Check. Baked squash, tasty halibut, and other hearty servings filled the table. Elegant cocktails and wine list. A very valuable happy hour too. Friendly service and entertaining people-watching. A necessary stop if you’re in Ventura.

They were good, but weren't shucked the best Heirloom salad- this was really good and I highly recommend it. The cheese and tomatoes were sublime Bread with butter and salmon roe- this was very good as well. A great starter and really enjoyed the butter with salmon roe Fried chicken dinner- this is their special on Sunday's. Very light and cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes were filled with flavor without being too buttery. Zucchini salad was a nice surprise. Biscuits and fried chicken and gravy were flavorful without being too
