Monty's Restaurant & Pizzeria

Been a favorite spot of ours for what seems like forever. Chicken francese and pizza for dinner was delicious as usual! Can say if there's been a complaint in the past it was always taken care of and made right. Love supporting local family owned businesses!

Visited Monty’s in Punta Gorda on Saturday night and ordered the lasagna, expecting a hearty, classic Italian dish. What arrived was a huge letdown—nothing like the rich, layered lasagna I was hoping for. It looked and tasted underwhelming, and smothered with cheese ! We politely mentioned it to our waitress, and the manager came over to defend it, saying they’ve used the same recipe for 40 years. After four decades, maybe it’s time for a refresh? The restaurant has a loyal following for pizza and other items, but this lasagna didn’t hit the mark for us. I’ll never order lasagna there again that is 100% for sure.

We have lived in PG for the past 3 years full time and yet yesterday was our first experience with Monty's. Wow. We loved it. We ordered carry out to give it a try and got 2 things we like to use as a barometer. We ordered the Monty Italian Hero and a standard Cheese Pizza. The hero was wonderful. So full of great Italian deli meats, fresh lettuce, tomato and onion all on a house made fresh roll. Wonderful. The Pizza checked ALL the boxes. The crust was tender yet strong. The sauce was next level. Flavor that transported me to days of growing up with homemade sauce with the family and the cheese, very generous and you could taste it was premium quality (Grande is great). Ordered a lg pepperoni and hamburger pizza. Opened the pizza box at home, burnt crust hard as a rock and pizza that is so oily I can dump it in my car on its next oil change. $23 for this, frozen crap from Walmart would of been more edible. I think it's time to open a real place in this town, amazing what people except as food. Crossing this place off my list to try.

Monty’s Restaurant & Pizzeria 6-26-25 Stopped by for some Pizza, Hero, Wings & Stromboli on Thursday around 3:30pm. Place was not full but neat and clean. We got a table fast, and our waitress Mikey was on the ball. After our drink order I ordered a Stromboli which has Peperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions, and Mozzarella in a Pizza Dough. My wife ordered 10 jumbo wings, a slice of Pizza & a Hero Sub which had Ham, Salami, Provolone with Lettice, Tomato, Onion, and Italian Dressing on it. Our food came out fast. My Stromboli was huge and had a side of tomato sauce for dipping. The Stromboli had tons of cheese in it and all other items inside. The crust was a little much for me to eat all of it. It looked like bread crust with Stromboli innards inside. My wife Cheese Pizza slice was ok, but
