I visited on the Friday of the Mardi Gras week leading to Fat Tuesday and didn't realized there would be a limited Mardi Gras menu or I would've chosen somewhere else. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans. It consisted of Crawfish Etoufee, Red Beans and Rice and Creole style Jambalaya (red- made with tomatoes). My husband ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Catfish. The food lacked the seasoning and spice and was barely warm. I've visited this restaurant before and the food was so much better previously, so I'll chalk it up to Mardi Gras session being a busy time and the dishes on the limited menu were probably pre-prepared in bulk in order to accommodate guests during parade season.
For dinner, we headed next door to Mr Ed’s Oyster House. It was Happy Hours from 4pm to 7pm! We already knew what we wanted – crawfish sandwich, boneless wings for $7USD each and chargrilled oysters for $1.5 USD each (minimum order of 6). We also found out that during HH, draft beers were on half price. This meant that the Abita IPA and Abita Amber Ale that we ordered were at $3.5 and $3USD respectively per pint! In total, we gave slightly more than 15% tips for a total of $38 USD (also there was a slight surcharge for payment via credit card as well). We must say that the chargrilled oysters were really very good. Love the cheese and seasoning used plus the skills of locking in the juices of the oysters. In fact, all the dishes were delicious. Blue cheese ranch that came with the boneles
I cannot say enough nice things about this place so I’ll keep it short. Don’t waste your money on oysters anywhere else. Best happy hour for oysters, best price for them too. The service is fantastic. Both times we’ve been there we’ve been treated so, so well. Again, y’all. If you like oysters, don’t waste your money anywhere else.
The chargrilled oysters were amazing one of the best I have ever had. Came with garlic bread which was good too. Then I had like a sampler with red beans and rice, jambalaya, and craw fish etouffee, this was really good. Food was amazing. How ever our waitress was not good. Had no personality we had to ask for more water, never checked on us. And had no personality.
Came here for happy hour. Two apps, a cup of soup, 6 oysters and one cocktail was $57 with tip. The gumbolaya has shrimp in it, even though it doesn’t say it on the menu. Beware if you’re allergic
