We had an AMAZING time here on Christmas Eve. The food was delicious, super peaceful clean atmosphere and the staff was so kind and generous. We got the Miso (vegetarian) Nabe and the vegetarian kimchi Shabu Shabu (not listed on the menu). We also had the introduction sake flights. The menu came with a pre-selected array of veggies, mushrooms and tofu. We also added fried tofu and mochi. It was a good amount of food for two people (and we eat A LOT). Towards the end of your meal you can have one of your soups made into a porridge at the table (there is egg in this, but I think everything else so far was vegan!) We ended with the green tea ice cream. I am dreaming of my next San Fran trip when I can come back :,) 10/10 will go again!
Disappointing experience. To be fair we arrived later in the day so that might have contributed. It took quite some for our order to be taken or for us to be acknowledged at all (staff were chilling in the back, it was slow). When we got our food the induction heater wasn't working. That was noticed after ten minutes or so at which point they subbed in a gas fired one instead. That ran out of gas pretty quickly at which point we needed to ask for a replacement. The service wasn't bad when received but the lack of care and attention was noticeable. For the food itself the soup set itself was fine but very overpriced for what you get. The karrage was an overcooked burnt and ready abomination.
Not a huge restaurant, but we liked the vibe. Loved trying the flight. Food was good and nicely portioned, but soups were slightly bland compared to other shabu places. Went for early dinner, and the place was not packed. But it was slow to get things in the beginning.. there seemed to be just one person taking orders and serving. Things got faster as more customers came in, and more waiters were seen. Really liked the porridge thing they did at the end.
We got the sukiyaki nabe. Overall was okay. As the broth built flavors it got tastier. I think we should have got one of the other ones.
Highly Recommend if You’re in San Francisco We’re visiting from Montreal, and this was our first time in San Francisco. My boyfriend and I first had sukiyaki and shabu shabu in Osaka back in 2023, so we were excited to share that experience with our French friends — and Nabe did not disappoint us. We ordered the sukiyaki and miso shabu shabu, both served with generous portions of rich broth, fresh vegetables, and premium meats. We also added extra pork and duck, which was plenty for the four of us. At the end of the meal, they even offer rice porridge, which was such a cozy and satisfying finish. Our server was super friendly and welcomed us with such a warm attitude. Even though the restaurant was packed and only had two servers, service was smooth and attentive. All our food and drink
