It was a very nice cozy spot. I enjoyed the jasmine tea. And she recommended the asparagus. Tasty. But the dumplings with shrimp were amazing. I definitely let her know I enjoyed it very much. I will definitely be back for that house special by her.
Yes this is a cozy spot to eat and relax for a good meal. Just came into tonight and this hit the spot. Tables are close but we were able to talk and sit back.
Should be called “New Colonic” – the hearty beef noodle soup ($14.50) and bizarre pork dumplings in peanut sauce ($11.50) are so salty, you will be visiting the bathroom regularly after the meal. The dining room is very pleasant if a bit bland; the staff is prompt but pushy. But the prices (over $20 for almost every dish) make this exclusively a Chinese restaurant for rich UWS families.
Their service style makes you want to return soon. The employee's positive outlook genuinely improved my visit. The restaurant builds dishes with good base ingredients. Perfect customer service occurs in a welcoming atmosphere. New Cottage employees showed good attention.
THE FOOD HERE IS PHENOMENAL!! It was so good I came here 3 days in a row to try their lunch specials and also their chef specials. Prices were affordable with quick and great customer service. Hands down one of my favorite traditional Chinese restaurants, let alone just the UWS. Their Szechuan style shrimp dumplings were so good I could eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner. Everything I tasted here was so flavorful and not just another Chinese restaurant who overly salts their food. They also had outdoor seating which was great for me and my pup. Overall, there are many options for different taste palettes as well. I will definitely be back again.
