New Haven Vital Statistics

I called to ask if my marriage license (which my officiant mailed) was received and the lady who answered the phone was incredibly rude and condescending. First I was told to ask the officiant (again, she mailed it so how would she know if it had been received) and then was told that they can’t tell me if it was received over the phone and my only options were to come there to check or fill out the online form and IF they had received it, they would respond. I’m lucky I live close enough to go in person but the poor customer service makes me wish I had gotten married somewhere else.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. This office is absolutely impossible to get in touch with. I’ve left several messages over the course of the last few weeks. I got married 06/29th in New Haven and do not live close so I have called MANY times and left messages to verify if my marriage license was able to be picked up if all the paperwork was in and they do not return calls. It is absolutely ridiculous that something so important such as marriage licenses that people need right away and you can’t get anyone on the phone. I got a call back after over a week from a lady who was very nasty I believe her name was Margaret but I could be wrong and she was absolutely dreadful to speak to. I was a little nervous reading the reviews from a bit ago but I have to say - great experience. Now, I got my birth certificate in person, I see most negative reviews are people who were getting it via mail. I got into New Haven around 4:15, found parking right in front of the building. I was immediately directed by a very nice man to the office. I walked in, filled out the forms, was waited on immediately by a very nice woman. I swear, the total time from getting out of my car to getting back in to leave was 15 minutes tops!!

I mailed my application, a copy of my driver's license and a money order for 20.00 in early December of 2021. I haven't received the Birth Certificate I applied for and it is now March 2022! I have left a message on the office voice mail at least 3 times as well as emailing Pat Clark.... so far.... no response. VERY disappointing.

Sent in my form and money order for my birth certificate on 10/29/2022. Finally spoke to a human being on 12/02/2022. The form, money order and original supporting documents cannot be found. Great! This office does not deserve a rating, but I could not complete the form without checking a star.
