New Wave Bagel

If you’ve given New Wave a sub-five-star review, you need some help. This place is absolutely killing it. I (and much of the community) has watched them grow from a pop-up to a brick and mortar, and I couldn’t be rooting harder for them knowing the grit, passion, and love they’ve put into these bagels and their craft. Look at their instagram to see them hand-rolling and slow-fermenting their bagels, candying local tangerines to put in the cream cheese, etc. Just because their bagel slicer doesn’t execute a perfectly even cut or they can’t toast their bagels (health department restriction…. Not their fault!) doesn’t warrant your sub-par review. To my fellow New Wave lovers (and peeps who just want to support their local businesses), I hope you feel compelled to leave a five star review. New

Nice people, great concept, but not my favorite bagels. Sorry, and like another reviewer said, "these are over-baked sourdough rolls in the shape of bagels." The crust is nearly burnt and tough, and the dough is tougher and incredibly salty. They come in interesting flavors tempting me to buy a few kinds, but nothing can make up for their bread-like consistency. Wish I could be more positive about the bagels.

Our first time - arrived when they opened this morning and we were the first and only ones there. Bagels were out of this world! We tried the bacon and egg bialy, cherry cardamom bagel, everything, and the Apollo. All were outstanding - hands down the best bagels I've had in SD, LA, NY, and especially Montreal (we don't get those at all). We also got coffee (regular drip, which was excellent) and headed home to toast and add our own cream cheese (although theirs sounds wonderful). Service was very friendly, vibe was chill, and there are lots of little tables and chairs outside. We found the prices reasonable considering the high quality of what they offer. Can't wait til their kitchen is fully up and running. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

Their bagels are incredible. I'm obsessed! The sourdough is unique and very high quality. The different flavors they offer are delicious. I got a cherry cardamom toasted with plain cream cheese and it was one of the best bagels I've ever had. I'm so happy they're here in the neighborhood and I only hope they will start opening Monday through Wednesday. One of the owners was cashiering when I went and she was super sweet. They clearly crafted their business with a lot of love. Definitely give this place a try.

Highly recommend pre-order as the line is always crazy on the weekends. Their bagels are incredible, high quality ingredients and fresh. Being from the East Coast, I’m always looking for a good bagel which is a difficult ask in SD. New Wave delivered on what I was looking for! The jalapeño cheddar is unreal. Plain and Everything are also 10/10. THE CREAM CHEESE IS AMAZING! Super friendly workers and friendly service! 5 stars!
