New York Bagel & Deli

I lived in South Florida, which is essentially "New York South", for many years before coming to NC, and was married to a Jewish woman for a long time, so I learned appreciate and discern good deli food. I grew to enjoy am everything bagel lightly toasted with cream cheese, Nova, red onion, and capers. It has been a long time since I've had one of the beauties in a restaurant. Well, NYBD came very close to what I would call a perfect bagel. The bagel itself had the perfect texture and chewiness; the cream cheese was, well, cream cheese; they actually had capers; and they had "Nova Lox". Just tried this place for the very first time and I’ve been here for four years. I had the asiago bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It was amazing. The atmosphere was great. Service was great very quick but the bagel so yummy and they piled the cream cheese on.! :) very satisfying!

My normal bagel place wasn't open so a friend and I went here to check it out. Both of us were very disappointed. First off, a bagel only costs $1.65. You want cream cheese with that though? Pay another almost $4 for Philadelphia cream cheese. Not joking, literally watched them take it straight from a tub of Philadelphia from the store. After marketing it on their signs as gourmet... I'd maybe be willing to pay that if it were actually gourmet or shop-made. The portion of cream cheese was somewhat modest, for that price I'd expect them to at least put it on both sides of the bagel. The bagels themselves were also a disappointment. Maybe only minor step up from a grocery store bagel. Inside tasted and had the consistency of a soft pretzel, cased in an overly chewy crust.

Highly recommend this spot if you love good quality NYC bagels. We tried two different bagels and would go back again to try more. The Pastrami & cheese in garlic bagel was PHENOMENAL and the everything bagel with honey walnut cream cheese was delicious as well. Next week we try more💯
