No Frill Bar And Grill

Went here for lunch around 12:30 pm. Inside was pretty packed / crowded, but we didn’t have any wait for a table. The layout of the tables inside is a bit crowded and too close, not much room when people kept walking trying to get through the tables. Waitress was attentive and nice. The atmosphere inside is okay, maybe if we would’ve been sat somewhere else rather than in the center of the room among the crowded tables, I would’ve like the atmosphere more. Started with the Chesapeake Bay Breeze drink (4/10) tasted nothing but pineapple and pomegranate juice and that was all. Also tried the Chanel (10/10) great flavor, sparkling/bubbly, and gave a good buzz also. For food, I ordered a Tuna Melt with bacon and fries (8/10) I enjoyed the flavors, felt as though lettuce was possibly missing f

Food was great except the spinach was a bit salty today. Almost everything there is made from scratc. Though prices seem high, the portions are large and likely enough to split into two meals if desired. It has a very cozy atmosphere. Wait staff was fantastic.

Lots of very tasty flavors here,, but I found a seafood section very light. Norfolk is a coastal town. I would expect more seafood options. However, my friend had a very tasty burger perfectly cooked and my salmon had a lovely sauce on it. I liked all the sides. Would like to see more in a cornbread flavors.

Excellent restaurant with great staff! One the best mainstays in Norfolk. I've never had anything there I didn't like. From large parties to sit down lunch, they take great care of you from food to service. I love the French Onion soup and will get a side of onion rings for dipping into it, so good! The Rubens are really good and the NY deli sandwich is piled high. Burgers are also excellent. Discovered in my most recent visit that the potato salad is no longer made in house, so not as good as it used to be but still tasty.

After dining here dozens of times over the years, it made sense to write a review. This place is the gold standard for consistency and great food that appeals to a large audience. The portions are nice and the pricing is fair. You always see someone you know. The only slight negative is that it can get quite loud if the place is full. The porch can be a bit quieter. We keep coming back because the food is delicious and the staff is always well trained and friendly.
