I had such high expectations and unfortunately I was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the black cod butter lettuce instead of the full black cod main (per my server's recommendation) hoping to get a taste of the famous black cod dish while also enjoying other dishes as well. But it was covered by a pile of dried noodles or something and not very exciting. The california roll was completely underwhelming and all I got from it was the taste of rice and sesame. The sliders were very good but soggy on the bottom. The mushroom soup was excellent. Service-wise, it was good except that I kept having to stop various servers from taking my still half full bowl of soup and explain on four different occasions that I'm still enjoying the broth in between other dishes. Nobu exceeded expectations! The service was top-notch - attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. Our server was on point, offering great recommendations and making sure everything was just right. The star of the show was the Black Cod with Miso - it was a game-changer! The combination of sweet and savory was pure perfection, with the cod literally melting in our mouths. To top it off, we got a complimentary dessert for a special occasion. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, Nobu is the way to go! Would definitely recommend.

We loved our dinner at Nobu Palo Alto. They didn’t have a couple of the items I wanted to order Tamago and Kinme Dai, possibly because it was mid-week. He did give us a wonderful tour of the garden. I’d gone through the effort of three times answering (because I was asked) if it was a special occasion? If so, what was the special occasion? [Upon reservation, via text and again through the opentable site.] One of the first things the server asked was if it was a special occasion? Hopefully in the future, the server will be notified by the front desk or manager, this information before having to approach the table. After placing the order for the table, and being served the food; we realized we wanted more. The house special sushi maki was delicious. We ordered three. Our friend loved the sn

My waiter was incredibly accommodating and helped me discover vegan options that exceeded my expectations. The drinks were a highlight, and the sushi was truly exceptional, with flavors that left a lasting impression.

The food here is great. Reliable, fresh, consistent, well presented, just expensive is the main con. I didn’t have the patience of Instagram - filtering my photos since I was too busy enjoying our orders, so use these pics as a more realistic rendition of the images. A few things will make one come back (1) miso black cod (where it all started), (2) their sake. I got sick of sake at one point, then when I had theirs (ok, paid up a bit more), the love came back. Find the restaurants that you can remember and make you excited. And go there. This was one for me.
