Northern Soul Fried Chicken

A little extra time at the airport over dinner allowed me to seek out an independent owned restaurant. First bite in and I’m hooked. The Tennessee heat chicken sandwich was a perfect heat, crunchy and juicy. The buttery bun complimented the flavor. The menu is easy to select from with straight forward options. The atmosphere is a chill artsy vibe. I learned there is another restaurant in the metro outside of the airport that I’ll have to try when I get home.

This spot should be on more people's radar. It appeared less frequented than other places at MSP, but the food is excellent and looked more freshly made. I ordered the breakfast burrito and the fried chicken was being freshly chopped and mixed into the burrito. Way better than the ready-to-serve stands in most airports. Highly recommend.

I was served old spoilt food. Ordered chicken tenders salad and the food has a rotten smell. The restaurant is empty. No one eats here. I'm feeling nauseous after eating and had to post a review. The staff are friendly.

I heard this spot was Black-owned and had to give it a try. Northern Soul is conveniently located in the Minneapolis airport and easy to find. It’s a small, cozy space with a few tables and high-tops for seating. If you need more room, you can always take your food to go and eat in one of the airport’s larger seating areas. Ordering is pretty straightforward—they have screens where you place and pay for your order. After that, you find a seat, and they’ll call you when your food is ready. I ordered a chicken sandwich, waffle fries, and mac and cheese (my favorite food). The chicken sandwich was surprisingly good—tender, juicy, and a lot of flavor. Don’t listen to those 1 star reviews. This place is actually soo soo good! Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. Chicken was so juicy and tender - some of the best fried chicken I’ve had in a while. I also really loved the vibe of this place - the music really added to the ambiance. If I’m ever in this airport again, for sure eating here!
