We had no reservation, but we still went to see if they had any open seating around 5:30pm, and we got seated right away in their heated outdoor patio! The restaurant gives very cozy, rustic vibes - very warm. Service was great, the waiters were super attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious! They serve family-style, and they recommended ordering 3-4 items for 2 people. Hanger Steak - If there's one thing you must order, THIS IS IT! We finally tried Oakhart Social after hearing about it for years. We dined at the bar, it was a bit loud and service was not very attentive. As for the pros, we enjoyed the salad and broccoli. We ordered the “seared salmon” and were alarmed when it came out more than half raw and uncooked (as in the photo). Checked with the bartender who seemed to suggest that was normal and that the partial sear “cooks through” the salmon, however, nowhere on the menu was it noted that the salmon was left half raw and uncooked. I would not have ordered it had I known and the bartender didn’t offer anything to accommodate. It was gross to eat. The mushroom with polenta is also heavily smoked and came with a heavy cream sauce that wasn’t for us.

One of my favorite places to have dinner in Charlottesville. The food never disappoints and never does the service. I can’t recommend this place more. I’m a huge fan.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Oakhart Social tonight. For us it is a great restaurant experience. We love well prepared tapas and interacting with the service staff. We also love a happy atmosphere. If that’s you this is your place. The only minor downgrade is the noise level: but I have hearing issues so that may be personal to me. So, let’s start with the food. Oakhart Social specializes in shareable tapas and truly excellent food. We started out with the shaved salad - a can’t miss dish. It is served very cold and is plenty for two people. We were on a weekend trip to visit Monticello, and stopped here for dinner. To give you a heads up, I am easily impressed with food. If it doesn't make me sick, I think it's great. So no points for me liking my food. In fact, I deducted a point for service because they didnt have Yuengling, but the waitress told me some weird beer I never heard of was just like it. It wasn't. Now my wife is VERY difficult to impress. Her father owned a fish market, and we live on the Atlantic, so fish is often on the menu.
