OC Library - Rancho Santa Margarita Branch

This library has a nice cozy setup in their periodical reading area. They have a diverse selection of “Great Courses” on many subjects that inquiring minded adults will appreciate. It’s a nicely styled building with a fireplace for ambiance during cooler months. Restrooms were clean with paper towels & soap readily available.

I was looking to find a nice comfortable chair to sit and read my book when I came here. I usually go to the Mission Viejo library but being Friday they were closed in the morning. I was disappointed to find that all the easy chairs and couch’s are not easy or comfortable to sit in as the backs are straight and very unpleasant. They all have the same design and it’s obvious that they don’t want you to stay very long here because you can’t. Not a very accommodating atmosphere at all. I probably won’t be coming back here in the future. The round clock is setting on the mantle ready to roll off.

The facilities and location are great, however a homeless encampment is forming that is clearly visible from the children’s section and right across from the park where kids play. I don’t feel comfortable bringing my children here, as it seems nothing is being done to gets these people off the street. If the library is unable to or unwilling kick these people out, they should put up frosted privacy film on the windows in front of the children’s area. The majority of people who sleep on the street do so because of mental illness or drug issues, and I don’t need my kids accidentally witnessing someone shooting up or touching themselves inappropriately during what was meant to be an uneventful outing to the library.

Great library with many many selection of books and items to check out...

This library is one of my favorite places in the area! The staff is incredibly kind, the programs are useful and creative, and the atmosphere is inclusive to people of all backgrounds. I'm also happy to see the library supporting lgbt+ youth this pride month! If you're in the area and looking for something do, you should definitely stop by the library.
