Ocean Isle Fish Company

We had the crab bites for an appetizer-they were fair. Dipping sauce was good. For dinner I had a house salad, which was tasty, and shrimp tempura roll and spicy crab roll. The rolls were good, but needed more sauce/flavor. My husband had the shrimp pasta which had excellent flavor. The shrimp came on a skewer with tails on. I typically do not like pasta with tailed shrimp, but at least they hadn't gotten messy in the sauce. He also had a crab cake side. The shrimp pasta was the only "5 ⭐️" food item we had.

The shrimp was melt in your mouth tender! We did the tiki bar which got progressively busier but they took good care of us. Great beer selection including locals. All the food was great! Awesome views!

We went on a Saturday, mid afternoon. I ordered the Crab Bites and the soup of the day, which was Seafood Chowder. My daughter ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The Shrimp and Grits serving was huge, which my daughter said tasted very good. The crab bites were also good. In my attached photos you will see my serving of seafood chowder, for $9.99. I would call it more of a sample size, not even a cup size. It had a half of a baby potato, one shrimp, and a couple pieces of some kind of fish. It was very good, but certainly was not worth $9.99. The “bowl” was about an inch high, and 4 to 5 inches wide, as you can see by the quarter that I placed in the photos . I almost laughed when the server set it down in front of me.

Based on popular request throughout Ocean Isle, we dined in on the rooftop as there was nearly a two hour wait. First and foremost, the food runners and bussers were as hardworking as they were helpful and friendly. The Seafood Salad was great along with the Tuna Tower. The seaweed on top could have been less wet and oily, though, remained tasty. The coleslaw was really tasty too. Unfortunately, our Calamari came out dry, overcooked and cold. Our grilled crab cake sandwich, also known as a staple on their menu, was as disappointing as it was salty and overly breaded; paired along with the soggiest and chewiest asparagus I have ever had.
