My opinion: the best sushi spot in Chico. The service has always been kind and attentive and the restaurant always looks sparkly clean. I can't speak too much about the hibachi service, but I promise whoever has made the sushi in at least the last few years makes the most incredibly consistent rolls I have ever had. They're beautifully decorated and the ratio of each ingredient was *chef's kiss*. The last time I went, the rolls were so good my partner and I almost teared up. So you can bet I'm choosing Ojiya's for sushi anytime.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. We attended for my nieces birthday, she is a giant fan and except for a town full of our trusty blackstones, it’s almost 4 hours away to find one. We were greeted properly by the hostess who was very friendly. Our server and JP (ask for him) our amazing chef outdid themselves making this experience so much fun. Part of coming to a restaurant like this is the interaction with the employees and all of our needs were met. The restaurant is large, well appointed and exceptionally clean, a great place for small & large gatherings. While I would give five stars for both of these things, the food was the icing on the cake. I traded my miso soup to the birthday girl for her salad, she loved it and ate both bowls. The salad was light and r
Typically, as a family, we love this place. But tonight was once of the worst experiences. We were expecting a long wait time because it’s Valentine’s Day, but definitely didn’t expect it to take as long as we did. There were so many things wrong with this visit. First the chef didn’t have everything on his cart that he needed and had to go back three times. We had to ask multiple times for my daughter’s white rice, which she ended up getting after everyone got their fried rice. The grill was Way too hot and either overcooked the food or cooked it too fast, which I believe made the steak tough. Once everyone was getting their steak, he forgot mine! Lastly, he spoke mainly in Spanish, which made it difficult for everyone to enjoying the experience, including myself. The chef mentioned they
Wife's birthday, and She wanted to try a new restaurant. Enter Ojiya Japanese Steakhouse. Absolutely NO wait to be seated, and the waitstaff were friendly and attentive. After perusing the menu, we decided to try a little bit of everything...little did we know about the portion sizes. Our order covered the entire table with little room to spare. We ordered the Poke salad, 2 Bento Boxes, both with Beef Teriyaki-1 with Katsu chicken and 1 with a Spicy Tuna roll, Walnut Shrimp, then 4 rolls... Chico Roll, Hot Night roll, Alaska roll, and the Monster roll. To say that it was overkill on our part was an understatement, as there was TOO MUCH food to eat. The cooks outdid themselves as everything was fresh, tightly rolled, and extremely flavorful. The Bento box alone was a meal worthy of trying,
This place is pretty special to me. It's a spot my family goes to for special occasions, and they always deliver! The chefs are always extremely nice and they cater to any problems you might have food wise, if it's an allergy or you simply just don't like onions, they got you covered 😉 The staff is always very helpful and friendly as well. They always give good recommendations if you don't quite know what you'd like to eat! The food in my experience is ALWAYS to DIE FOR and I think it's completely worth the price point. I took my first date to this place and the atmosphere was perfect 👌 we got a bottle of Sake and it was ssooooo good! I would recommend anyone dine here. It's always good times no matter the occasion 🤟
