Old Country Cooking

Excellent down home food, cooked to perfection. Was a pleasant meal on the road that surpassed the usual fare. A nice surprise. Stop there and enjoy deliciously prepared catfish, ribs, cornbread, fried Chicken.

Don’t let the fact that this place is with a gas station/convenience store fool you. It just makes it a convenient way to get good home cooking fast. We had the beef stew (5stars), a side order of cabbage (10 stars if possible) and the cheeseburger/fries special which was made fresh and excellent as a burger can be.

WHEW, CHILD! DO NOT MISS THIS!!! If you are on the road, in town, or headed home and you are hungry, stop at the Lion Mart Old Country Cooking Cafe and visit Crazy Larry, Henry, Jessie, and Scott for some hot, fresh, southern food. The plate was enough for 2 people if you are willing to share. I had fried catfish, fried okra, cheesy broccoli rice casserole, cornbread, and blackberry cobbler. You will not be disappointed!

We got two plates for $8.49 each. In addition to the pictured catfish, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese, we also had popcorn chicken, fried okra, cheese pizza, and peach cobbler. We were rushed due to having toddlers with us, so I didn't catch his name, but the cook was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was delicious. Would definitely order again.
