It was pretty good. Did NOT realize it's a cash only place though. The chicken fried steak was super thinly cut but other than that the food was good. The meatloaf was said to be really good. And the waitresses were great & the place absolutely packed when we got there. I do recommend it but bring cash, there's an ATM but of course it charges you.
First time there and I loved it! I told my Aunts yall have been coming since yall were young many moons ago and just now brought me here?! All my life going to Temple to visit family and no one told me... 😆! As soon I walked up to the place I heard oldies and I knew oh this gonna be good! The food was very good, the staff and service was good too and it has that good ole country home cooked meals atmosphere. Plus they played oldies and other good old school jams...thank God. Cuz not many places play oldies no more. I definitely will be seeing more road trips to Temple, I already see my family there and now I can enjoy a good place to relax too.
This place was great! The food was good. Their mashed potatoes and rolls were very good. I was a bit disappointed with the green beans. It seemed like they were warmed up canned green beans. We had the chicken fried steak and meat loaf were delicious. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We would go back.
I saw the great reviews of Old Jody’s Restaurant in Temple and knew that we had to try it. We were in the area on a Thursday and stopped for lunch around 12:30 pm. I liked the vibe when we pulled up and walked inside. Nothing fancy, but it has the feeling of being a well-established restaurant that is a great place to get together with family and friends to have a meal together. It was busy when we got there, but there were tables available. It’s a seat-yourself type of place. Some tables are longer and can be shared with other small groups and there are a few smaller individual tables for up to 4 people. This place only accepts cash or checks, but there is an ATM at the front door. Bottom line up front, Jody’s was a mixed bag for us. We got fried mushrooms as an appetizer, and it
Upon entering had our name added to the next available table list. Was told about 20 minutes, but seated in 10. Shared a table with others, no big deal. Staff hustled the entire time we were there. Had the 10oz ribeye, one medium rare, one medium well. Both were closer to medium rare. Plates came with 2 sides, each ordered a salad and potato, both plates also had fresh warm rolls. Added cheese curds which were very good.
