Onderdonk Cafe

Hidden gem! It's a small cafe that you would miss if you're not looking for it. I was looking for it and drove right past it. I got a latte and coconut bun. The coffee was good but the coconut bun was AMAZING! If you are anywhere near this place you need to come and check it out. Laptops and tablets are not allowed so keep that in mind if you are looking to get work done while you sip.

I came to Onderonk Coffee in Ridgewood at the recommendation of a friend who spoke highly of their pastries. Unfortunately, my experience here was nothing short of appalling. It was a Saturday afternoon, near closing time, and the shop was completely empty except for our group. My friend kindly ordered coffees for everyone, and I planned to place my order shortly after. Instead of a welcoming environment, I was met with hostility and blatant disrespect. The owner singled me out — the only Black woman in the space — and told me I could not sit and meet there, if I don't purchase anything, despite the fact that my friend had already purchased drinks for all of us. Came by for the first time and immediately liked the ambiance. A subtle mix between historical and foreign aesthetic Iced Americano was solid but the Bun w/ Turkey Ham & Cheese is Incredible! Place speaks for it self. Good place to write or an intimate conversation.

Can't wait for this to be open during the week so it can be my new home away from home. Cozy, friendly, great coffee and delicious coconut buns.
