Orwigsburg Free Public Library

I would like to echo a lot of the reviews. The one librarian is really brash, she shouted across the room that I had a fine. Initially I was greeted, and shown around very pleasantly. Given the grand tour, I loved this young lady. But the other older librarian kept making off handed remarks degrading the youth of today. Not only that but I was condecened too when I couldn't figure out the convoluted method of logging into the cloud library. I have been in the library twice and felt watched like a hawk as if I was going to steal something. I don't know, maybe it was just me. But I don't feel welcome there, and I won't be back. I'll just stick to e-books.

This library is not Kid friendly!! It was our first time visiting since we are new to this area. (We moved from Allentown AKA bigger library and kids dynamics is different) Me and my child went to the kids area and my kid was excited, he grabbed a book and ran to show me, the director of the library stops him and tells him 'you can't run here, I know you are new here but he have rules'. First of all HIS mother is right there you address any issue with me and not take it upon yourself to tell my 5year old the rules. This library has rules, I get it... Please make a sign in the kids area with these rules so we can follow, instead of reaching out to the kids directly! My son was also playing with a stuffed animal -tiger - and held it by it's tail. Heart of the town imo! Orwigsburg Library is always contributing to the Community. The Library is a safe place to learn and grow. All our welcome and the staff never fails to make that known. There are always opportunities to engage in group activities and Events.

I’m surprised there are so many good reviews. I have spoken to several other mothers that have used this library and we all have the same conclusion — some of the librarians, especially the one that reads to the small children (I think her name may be Robin?), are rude. I’m not sure why this lady is the one chosen to be with young children but it’s the worst decision because she doesn’t have a friendly face, she has a dry monotone voice and she corrects the children for being…. Children. I tried this library several times over, hoping I would end up liking it but this librarian just rubs me the wrong way and even my kids feel uncomfortable around her.

Miss Claudia is great! Always pleasant and helpful. Small, community feel library with great selection. Their kids' department is amazing! I enjoy visiting this library even more than some larger ones.
