I've been wanting to try this place for a minute. First time. I'm not a fish person, but am learning to like it. I go in and order a 2pc cod Fish'n'Chips and a side of hush puppies. The order came pretty quickly, within 10 minutes or so. While waiting I saw a lot of offerings for people to grab on their own. Ketchup, mayo, heinz malt Vinegar, lots of options it was nice. I did overhear that they were running out of Okra and something else that night. But I can only suspect it's because they're busy. And they were. People were waiting on orders to go and a fair crowd was dining in despite the place closing in an hour or so. Food: I loved it. For $20/plate, we expected a little more than this… We got 2 orders of the 2 piece cod fish and chips with hush puppies and clam chowder as our sides. We ordered the fish extra crispy, and made 1 plate cajun style for $1 more. The fish was not very crispy and also not seasoned, and we did not receive the cajun seasoning on one of the plates either. The hush puppies were tasty but overly salty and oily. The clam chowder had good flavor, but also had the texture of gelatinized white gravy while being somewhat gritty (almost like sand?). Quite disappointing considering our total was $80.

I can't say enough good things about Oscar's! Without a doubt, they serve the best seafood in Phoenix (though the chicken is fantastic too). Every dish comes out perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the steamed veggies on the side are always delicious. But honestly, the food isn't even the main reason I keep coming back—it's the incredible people, especially the wonderful new owners and staff. Kari is an absolute gem. She greets everyone with the warmest smile and such genuine kindness that it genuinely brightens your whole day. I haven't experienced such welcoming energy anywhere else in Phoenix. Kari and the whole team go above and beyond to make Oscar's feel like a home away from home, always ready to accommodate special requests. As someone with strict dietary needs, I truly appreciate

Went here for the first time today. The service was phenomenal and the food was excellent! We had a chance to meet the owner and let him know in person how pleased we were with everything. Don’t miss out on this gem, but know that Fridays can be very busy for good reason. Wishing the very best for them and will return again soon! We’ll be trying the clam chowder sample shortly once we make some room in our belly. Thanks again!

Firstly, Oscar's has the best seafood in Phoenix (or chicken) always cooked and seasoned perfectly along with fantastic steamed veggies. The reason for visiting isn't just the food though, it's the wonderful staff and now new owners. Kari, the amazingly kind, considerate and joyful staff member, always greets everyone with a smile and a kindness that will light up your day. Never has there been such welcoming energy from any other restaurant in all of Phoenix. Kari (and the rest of the staff), go out of their way to make Oscar's a second home, catering to just about any need or request. As someone with strict dietary requirements, Oscar's always delivers perfectly thanks to Kari and of course the staff. We frequent Oscar's for Kari and of course the amazing meals that can't be found
