For first timers: you order at the bar with a bartender and then they bring it out to the table you’re at (whether inside or outside). We ordered: Pleaser fries, 2 pleaser double burgers add bacon and fried egg. The bartender took our order and put it in just based off memory so we ended up getting someone else’s order and then our order came out. Weird? The burger: huge! The double was more than enough. Good but missing something. The bun was a bit mushy which some like and some don’t. I liked the bun! A bit too heavy on the grilled onions. Overall: the burger is definitely a solid drunk food burger.
Went there and had a great double smash burger. Thin fries were nice and salty. Guinness tasted great. The small place was great. Service was wonderful. Music playing was chill. Pic of my dog because I forgot to take pic of the burger.
This is a staple for me. The smash burgers are hands down one of the best I've had, fries too. The staff are amazing; so friendly and friendly engaging. This place has an eclectic crowd and all are welcome. I will ALWAYS recommend this place to anyone who asks for a great watering hole and/or fantastic smash burgers!
It’s a rarity in 2025 to be able to get a burger and a beer for $12 but Small Bar/Patty Please delivers. Imagine a dive bar, that had had a bit of a face lift and a solid food menu and you have small bar. Tucked away within a neighborhood like a true Chicago tavern, small bar has drafts for $8, bottles and cans starting at $4 and. Single cheesburger called The Pleaser (3/5) for $8. I really enjoyed the pleaser, it’s a very solid burger overall. It had perfectly caramelized onions, cheese and pleaser sauce. It had a pickle, which normally i love, but felt out of place on this burger. The French fries are also solid, perfectly salted and thin and crispy. No crinkle cut here! Also I’m pretty anti-TV in a Chicago Dive but it was SO nice to see they had one frame tv playing March madness, me
EDIT: So I either went in on an off day or the owner read my review. Either way, the burger is MUCH bigger than the one I was previously served. And way tastier. Definitely one of Chicagos elite burgers. I replaced the old photos with new ones (double and single pleasers). The burger here is great, but I was disappointed in its size. It looked way bigger in videos and promo pics. It also barely had any onions. I could’ve eaten two of them and this was a double.
