Pell City Utilities Department

The Pell City utilities department routinely fail to alert residents of policy changes and or fees. New this month: Utility bills not paid within 7 days of the due date will be shut off and a $75 fee applied to restore service. At no time was the public informed of this policy change, meaning the Utilities department is about to make a lot of money off the good citizens of Pell City.

This is the WORST utility department ever. Pay a bill on time- bank takes a few days to process the transaction but Pell city doesn’t recognize it, cuts off all of my water and charges me extra money to fix their mistake. Cost me about as much as my original payment

I have lived in many other cities and I don't think I have ever seen another water co. As this one. It isn't the people who work there but they don't make anything easy .I had Medicare insurance that payed for utilities but this company was not able to take payments. Then I tried to get Liheap but they no longer accept it now. I don't have city sewer, but they charge me every month because I am so many feet away from the line. It is $500 a year I pay for something I don't use. They told me they don't accept any exemptions. I try using the automated system to pay my bill but it never works. They just don't seem to care about the customers.

Pell City is the hardest place to try to get your water turned on. Renters beware they will want your landlord to get a business license before they will turn your water on. Pell City is the ONLY place that does this.

Highly questionable billing practices when opening and closing accounts. The city workers can’t even accurately explain the billing practices.
