Phatfish Destin

Drinks were great! Try the Blue Ocean and Phat Gator if you like coconut Rum. Grouper tacos were amazing! Burger with onion rings and their sauce was incredible.

First and foremost, the fish is absolutely fresh. The shrimp snapped when you bit into it. No problem with the quality of the fare but my hesitation is with the sauces that paired with the fish/shellfish. We had the Red fish, flounder and mahi mahi. A definite variety and all had there own sauce to enhance. This is where I got lost. The sauces were so overpowering that the fish became an afterthought. Not bad , not good either. Just different than I've ever experienced before I really wanted to fall in love with this restaurant but just couldn't. The service was wonderful.

This Hidden Gem is new and located off the lobby of the Sun Destin Resort! Carribean Specialties and an amazing drink menu. We shared an order of blackened grouper tacos. Comes w/ 2 tacos. Perfectly seasoned blackened grouper w/ coleslaw, remolode sauce and cheese. Amazing flavor combo! Sorry no pic, we ate them too fast. Next a sampler of fried grouper, giant shrimp, hushpuppies w/ a side of tender crisp fried okra. Lester, our waiter ,also reccommended the Carribean wings but those will have to wait for next time as we were too full from all the delicious seafood! Great Place, Great Food, Great Service!! We were literally the only people in there and it still took 10 minutes to come take our drink orders, another 15 to get the drinks(waters and sodas) and another 30 to get the food. The salads came out about 3 minutes before the food. The food was good if you don't mind waiting over an hour to eat. The fried shrimp were very large and the grouper was good.

We had group go here and found out they had just opened. The menu had several interesting items and a nice mix of seafood and meats. I had the Sidney Grouper with red beans and rice as my side. My husband had the blackened grouper sandwich. The rest of our group had various other menu choices. The food took a while to come out of the kitchen, but all meals were served at the same time and were hot and delicious! I have been to other restaurants on opening day and experienced a lot of more glitches. We've been back since. I tried the fish tacos and my husband stuck with blackened grouper sandwich. We highly recommend both. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.
