Pioneer Group - Pioneer Big Rapids - Lake County Star - Herald Review

I tried to cancel my subscription to the pioneer and they wouldn’t do it! Tried to tell me that I had as getting a great deal. I argued with them for several minutes to cancel my subscription. Finally, my husband said do you not understand we do not want the Pioneer anymore and I checked my bank account this morning and they still took the money out of my account even though I canceled the subscription very unhappy with a big RAPIDS Pioneer. We have to talk to a group from California to cancel it. It’s just not a big RAPIDS Pioneer anymore do not order From these people, you’ll be very very sorry.

What used to be a local paper has now turned into liberal leaning mish mash. They try to hide that, but it's glaringly evident. I'm also tired of learning about local events after the fact or at wrong times--have shown up late or entirely missed something because of poor details. Our family yearns for a paper like the Pioneer used to be, but it has joined the mainstream media ranks and is short on reporting accurate, balanced coverage or connecting with the community.

I had to view one article online. In order to do that, you have to sign up for a subscription service. It didn't cost much and assured me it would be easy to cancel. I ended up signing up so I could see the one article. I then went to cancel. They asked for my account number and information, so I gave it. Then they said they had to transfer me so they put me on hold. I had to wait on hold a long time. Finally, it rang to a desk. They told me that in order to proceed they needed my account information. I gave it to them again. Got put on hold again. Got caught in an endless cycle where cancelling a simple subscription was impossible. I finally gave up and just disputed the charges with my credit card company, which is a much simpler process.

I own Johnson's Automotive Repair in big rapids, and the Pioneer Group does a great job for us in big rapids. The ads always look great and there helpful anytime I need help designing or proofing an ad copy. Thank You for helping my business be more successful.

The "new management" of this place--in particular the Editor Brad Massman--is extremely hard to deal with, and quite frankly rude when you're making a simple inquiry. Big Rapids deserves better. Extremely disappointed with how this newspaper has turned out.
