Playa Del Rey Beach Public Restroom

My friend befriended a stainless steel toilet in this restroom back in 2021. Since then he has visited it thousands of times, fouling its bowl, reading on it, taking photos with it. To say his relationship with this public toilet has changed his perspective on life is an understatement. It has fundamentally altered how he sees life, love, and friendship. We’re currently making a documentary about it called “My Beach Toilet Teacher”.

This restroom building is locked and closed and instead there are portable restrooms out front. Kind of ruins the point of a public beach if basic amenities can't be provided. Thanks LA County for doing the minimum possible... 🤬

I'm a Canadian auteur film maker, so public toilets of Southern California are not exactly my expertise. But in 2020, I had a life changing experience in this restroom that has inspired my next film. It was a warm day in July when I first stumbled into this public restroom after a basket of cajun fries at a nearby eatery. I had been in Los Angeles for two weeks, trying to sell my nature documentary on the Egyptian scarab beetle to Don Cheadle's agent, with hopes that he might narrate it (the film was to be called "Dung Cheadle: America's Greatest Star Takes Us Inside The World of Africa's Most Fascinating Insect). Suffice to say, I had much on my mind when I came to this restroom to relieve myself. What I found inside was surprising for a public restroom: a clean stainless steel toilet,

October/4/2023 Actual restrooms was closed and they have port potty placed outside, it was not a good experience going into porta potty as you know there’s always homeless around the beach and park area. That park restrooms are always closed due to some issues. I went to the nearby restaurant that give restroom to customers only so I bought a coffee there.

Who complains about the state of a public toilet along the LA beachfront? If you're trying to kill time before a flight, this area can't be beat.
