PNK Surinamese Cuisine & Majnoon Cafe

Got hooked on Surinamese food when living in the Netherlands and have been looking for a restaurant in the states to satisfy that craving. We were in NYC for the weekend and stopped by PNK to try it out. It was everything I was looking for. They had a great variety of classic dishes on the menu, but I had to go with a classic Bami Kip. Can vouch that it's just as good as any Surinamese I had in NL. If you are in town, make sure to stop by. It's located pretty close to JFK in Queens which makes it an easy stop of you are traveling to or from the airport and need a delicious meal.

We came here to try Surinamese dishes. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic! The Saoto Soup has a rich broth with great toppings, and the Pom was delicious with its crispy skin and tender meat. What's even better is that the owner is very passionate and shared a lot of knowledge about Surinamese food, making the dining experience even more special. Highly recommend!

We don’t have Suriname restaurants so let’s begin there. When I’m in the mood for Suriname food my options are limited to one spot. The food here is very inconsistent from one order to the next. The Hong Kong Tjawmin, first order, was with the correct noodles and made to perfection. Since, it’s just been the noodles used to make bami which with carrots and peas and it doesn’t taste like Tjawmin. It’s beginning to look and taste more like Guyanese food. The chicken, however, has been very consistent throughout my many orders. The saoto is always missing something from the pepper sauce to the rice being hard. The Hong Kong Nasi is okay. The lapis is sometimes firm and other times looks like pudding. The taste is consistent. I write this feedback hoping that the restaurant will work on de
