I can’t speak to the service or atmosphere since this was takeout brought to me by friends but I can absolutely speak to the sandwich. And unfortunately, it was… tragic. I ordered what’s been, in the past, an amazing chicken cheesesteak (or whatever it’s technically called): No green peppers, add banana peppers. Side of fries. Simple. Comforting. Reliable. What I received was essentially a whole loaf of bread with a light suggestion of chicken, a few onions, and what appeared to be a ceremonial dab of mayonnaise. In other words: dry, chewy, and just plain gross. There were no banana peppers, which was really the only customization. And the first red flag? When I picked up the sandwich and it felt as light as a feather. Never in my life should a cheesesteak feel weightless. It genuinely
Wonderful food and service. Missing one start due to the seats dropping in when you sit. They have food you can't really find anywhere else. Fried artichokes and zucchini fries were good. I got the Italian grinder. It was very good and my friend got the calzone. Very large portions. Prices are reasonable. Server was very friendly. They also serve a verity drinks, including bottled beers and wine. Home style environment.
The only thing I don't like about Pop's is the delivery/take out boxes. They are cardboard and don't transport and save well. The mussels were served in a delicious broth which oozed out of the container. The salad was in no way edible in its cardboard box if one was trying to eat it without proper plates or utensils. The food is great and the people are nice. I would suggest rethinking the takeaway containers.
I was out of town on holiday and went there with family. What a GREAT find. The service was first class and server was so friendly and helpful. The food (I had "make your own" pizza) was superb! The portions were very generous. Everyone in our group (we were eight) loved there food. I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in Raleigh. I highly recommend!!
We’ve lived near here for years, and love pizza but somehow hadn’t tried Pop’s. We finally rectified that serious mistake. Fantastic pizza!!! Great sauce, cheese, and NY-style crust. We also tried the calzone and it was superb. Service was very friendly; the young man who waited on us at the counter was very nice (I can’t remember his name but I think it was initials like “AB” or something like that) The atmosphere is informal but very pleasant. We will most definitely return. A great find!!!
