Food- Salmon was cooked to perfection with a nice crisp on top, bread pudding was soo tasty with the dulce de leche ice cream. I wish it was a little more moist, but the ice cream kinda helped that aspect. We also tried one of each of the empanadas. The kale one was the best and the caprese one threw me off because the filling was cold. It was all still very good, but room for little improvements. Service- Appropriate length of time of time for each dish; dessert came really fast. Staff was very kind and welcoming. Atmosphere- Nice and intimate inside with smaller tables, and something about this place is unpretentious. It's a bit rustic and inviting.
Pre Valentine. Heart Decorations. One day, will try lentil soup. NY steak great. Sweet potato has a kick. Rigatoni pasta saltier than usual. Empanada so reliable. Today's best shrimp salad. Camarones ensalada el mejor. Tried flan dulcet de Leche. So good. Adios Paola --------- New year buen provecho. Again steak of course. Remembered good rigatoni. Tried potato pie. Hit the spot very nice for rainy day. Salad also very nice. Postre finish-up with bread pudding. No necessitate lavaplatos Paola so friendly. Muchos gracias ------ Little Argentina in Chelsea with Quilmes cerveza. Blood sausage and blood sausage good served in skillet. Specialty Empanada - carne - best. Sandwich and pasta respectable. Highlights warm bread pudding topped with ice cream. Neighborhood bar plus just enoug
Very cozy neighborhood Argentinian restaurant. Tasty salads, empanadas, and of course steak. We loved the entraña which was served with farro. Also the avocado flan was a surprise!
Glad we tried this place. Nice lowkey vibes, great food, and the beef is from Argentina. Empanadas were good, steak was cooked perfectly. Wonderful service, and we even got complimentary dulce de leche macarons, a very sweet touch. Not pictured: Fifi drink, delicious and refreshing
Never skip this place when I go to gallery openings on Thursdays. Jorge the owner is always welcoming with his big smile. He introduced me to Torrontés, the Argentinian grape variety, almost 20 years ago. Everyone who I brought here always find something they like, from the empanadas to the steak to the flan. West Chelsea has changed from gritty industrial warehouses where club kids used to hit the Tunnel, to a buzzy, gallery- and restaurant-filled Gen Z hub with luxury apartments. But Porteño retains its small restaurant charm, warm service, and quality food. To me, it always feels like visiting an old friend, and I always leave with a smile and a happy belly.
