Customer Reviews
I am being VERY fair on my review, simply because the linguine and clam sauce (has not got me sick yet) -- The service was TERRIBLE -- She gave me the check before I was even done eating and didn't ask if I wanted anything else -- the place was empty. I was talking to the owner when I left -- he seems quite arrogant for an empty restaurant. it may be good? but bad service? kills it for me. I will also add, they put lemon in the clam sauce -- you may ask how do I know? I had to pull out 3 lemon pits (Not very good chef/cooking) -- next person who breaks a tooth will sue the place and own it. I likely will not be back unless the owner would like to treat me to a proper meal.
Let me tell you this! I absolutely LOVE Portobello’s! Everything is always very fresh and delicious. I could not even imagine that I would enjoy meals so much and always look forward to going back! The first time I ordered food, I got the whole Philly Cheese Steak to go. Their wrapping technique kept my sandwich hot and very tasty until I got home to eat it (I don’t like cold food and figured I would have to warm it up)! I had planned to only eat half of it and save the other half for another meal. I couldn’t help myself. I ate all of it! I went back the next week and ordered the shrimp scampi and a large pizza to go. All I can say is wow! I cleaned my plate! They don’t skimp on the large shrimp (I cut each shrimp into three pieces)! The sauce was incredibly tasty, and included both red
Our server was friendly with our large family. Those garlic knots are delicious! Soft, buttery, and served hot and fresh. My salad was crisp and fresh with good quality romaine lettuce. The pizza was huge, hot, fresh and full of meat and veggies. My tiramisu was beautiful but the mascarpone filling was frozen instead of creamy and I really didn't get much of an Expresso taste. Portion size was more than enough so we did a lot of sampling each others entrees. It was a good meal and we will be back again.
This small, independently owned restaurant is Top Tier for authentic Italian taste. We’ve driven past this building for years not knowing what an extensive menu we were missing out on. The salad was beautifully plated with perfectly chilled and crunchy Romaine, fresh shredded Mozzarella, onion, olives and a banana pepper served with house made crusty bread. I had the Puttanesca on fettuccine, which is a delightfully light sauce with sautéed garlic, fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, onion, olives and capers. My mother had the Pasta primavera which features broccoli, spinach, and mushrooms in a light white sauce topped with cheese. My brother had the lasagna, which was oozing with melted mozzarella, just like he likes it. This restaurant is an Italian oasis amid the fine dining desert that is Highw
Move over Olive Garden - the REAL Italians have come to town!!! I found this place by accident while making a turn around for my GPS to another restaurant, but the "hole in the wall" esthetic lured me in. What they lack in curb appeal, they make up for by being some of the best Italian food I've ever had. The bread sticks come out piping hot and misshapenly perfect - a welcome change from their uniformly bland commercial counterparts! The Primavera is decadent and creamy and the vegetables perfectly done. The italian authenticity doesn't stop at the food - at one point the cook could be heard yelling at someone in Italian in the kitchen, enhancing the experience even further. This place has earned a very special place in my heart, as well as my stomach. 10/10 Caio Bella ❤
