Eating here is such a comfortable experience. The family dynamic of the chefs and the man at the register makes the place feel like I'm at home. I've never had this experience at a deli before or even any restaurant. A sandwich called "The Hallen" is so good. The chicken cutlet is fresh. The mozzarella is NOT watery and pulls apart from the sandwich as if it is in a commercial. The ingredients there are fresh, and you can see how clean everything is. The dining area is quiet and well laid out with shelf-like tables running along the walls for a nice solo dining experience. I appreciate that we get a free can of drink if we order a "Hero" size for the sandwich. And the drink selection is massive. This is one of the best dining experiences on the Rutgers Newark Campus. I highly recommend it.
Great atmosphere and service, the workers here are very interactive and banter back and forth alot. The kitchen they run can be a bit hit or miss. The food is always good but as of late they've been screwing up my orders, not that it matters I'll eat it anyways, but still. It is inconvenient. I cant speak to the wuality of lunch items, but their breakfast menu is pretty alright.
I bought a Philly steak cheese sandwich from this store and this sandwich was awful the steak if they can call it that was more like mystery meat the sandwich thin as hell hardly any cheese and meat drowned with mayo when I said just a little bit. This was one of the most awful Philly cheesesteak sandwiches that I have ever ate if you want a good cheesesteak sandwich I have the recommend you go across the street to R You hungry you will get a really good Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
I usually get the small Red Bulls everywhere for 2 for $5, but at this store, they charged me $7.80 for the same two. The cashier entered the prices manually instead of scanning them.On top of that, one of the workers said “eshtaghfer Allah” as I was walking by, which I found very disrespectful. This experience made me uncomfortable, and I just want to warn others when shopping here and make sure to check your receipt and prices.
Supplied a catering event for us last minute and eveyone loved the food. Appreciate everyone who works there for making this happen and a heartfelt thank you to the manager as well!
