Ridgewood Health Department

We noticed an issue on my birth certificate and needed it corrected for my wife's green card interview. (As if we haven't dealt with incompetent government workers enough up until now..) Upon calling the health department to get this corrected, "Terri" informed me that the reason the certificate has an error is because my parents spelled their last name wrong on the birth certificate (as if they don't require state issued ID to confirm the parent's identity at Hospitals in NJ when a child is born). She then informed me that this would cost $50.00 + $25.00 for each new copy of my birth certificate I need. As usual, the government is extremely incompetent and never wants to own up to any mistakes made.

Horrible customer service. I placed a birth certificate order via vital check for next day delivery. They created the label but never shipped the package. I had to wait 10 days and after multiple emails calls and complaints I ended up driving to their office to pick up the documents.

Waiting for over 3 months to receive my son’s birth certificate. We followed up and they requested more documents, we provided, waited some more, and when we finally heard back, they request the same documents again. 100% inefficient. This is a vital document, please be more respectful of people’s time and basic rights.

I was fortunate to be able to go in person and Marge was very attentive and I presented my certified marriage license and drivers license Filled out application with payment check or cash 3% extra if credit card Received certified birth certificate Glad I didn’t wait for it to be mailed Thank you

There is no reason to take 12 weeks to print a paper. There is no reason, after 18 months of pandemic, to not provide a human phone service - bad and slow service.
